As if we needed further proof that the criminal justice system hates black love, it was announced that Fabolous has been indicted for four crimes stemming from a truly excellent TMZ video that hit the Internets earlier this year.
I remember showing the video to my little brother, back when I was still employed, but I may not have written about it. In it, Fabolous, wielding a pair of scissors (he's Dominican), threatens to give his baby's mother a DIY haircut, and threatens to pop a cap in her father's ass.
The father seems like a decent-sized guy. I wonder why he didn't put a shoe on Fab. Is it because he had those scissors? The Japanese know how to fight a guy with a weapon, as depicted in the second Karate Kid film.
Fab has been charged with one count of domestic violence with serious bodily injury, perhaps stemming from a previous incident, in which he punched his baby's mother in the mouth and knocked out three of her teeth, two counts of threatening to kill someone, and one count of wielding a deadly weapon.
Each count could lead to up to five years in the pokey.
Obviously, the charges of threatening to kill someone (which should be covered under the First Amendment), and the charge of wielding a deadly weapon (scissors are not illegal), should be thrown out of court. Punching a girl in the mouth, on the other hand, is uncalled for, even if she deserves it morally.
But here's the thing: Fabolous and his baby's mother are still an item. They've been spotted out together since the TMZ video hit the Internets, thus raising the question: If what he did wasn't bad enough for her to leave him, how can it be bad enough for him to spend up to 20 years behind bars?
I rest on your face.
