This might be the last year of my life that I know the names of three young rappers, and somehow none of them made this year's XXL Freshman list. TF is this BS?
Only nine rappers made the list, including the token female, so there's no reason why they couldn't have put 6ix9ine—arguably the top rapper in the game right now, regardless of age—on the list. That would have made it an even 10. Or nine, if you don't count the girl.
I wonder if they purposely left 6ix9ine off the list because he, along with some other guy, used a 13-year-old girl as a pair of Chinese handcuffs. I know he's had problems touring—his show here in the STL was canceled, and that may or may not be why he wasn't allowed to perform at Summer Jam.
When the list was first announced the other day, a few dumbasses on Twitter complained that there was only one girl on the list. I'm tempted to agree, provided the girls they were complaining on behalf of were Lil Tay and Bhad Bhabie, and not some garbage like Rapsody.
Lil Tay has disappeared from social media for the time being, after she was doxxed by the same website that tried to destroy Aziz Ansari. But supposedly she'll be back soon with a new persona. She's only like nine, and I don't think she has any songs out yet, so there's no reason why she can't be on the list next year.
The only reason I can think that Bhad Bhabie wouldn't be on this list is sexism. I haven't heard so much as a song by any of the artists who did make the list, but I'd be willing to bet that she's just as talented. And because 6ix9ine didn't make the list, they didn't have to sweat her being around any of the guys.
