Budden already explained to Rosenberg what his place is in hip-hop once before, as discussed in a recent issue of Life in a Shanty Town.
Rosenberg, who's been reduced to sidekick status on what was once his own morning show on Hot 97, has apparently picked up a side gig, also as a sidekick, on a sports talk program hosted by a couple of Trump supporters. He's unconcerned with his co-workers political views, because at the end of the day, you gotta do what you gotta do to get dis $$$, even if it ultimately results in black people being sold back into slavery.
The other day, when XXXTentacion was assassinated, Rosenberg, sensing an opportunity for social media engagement, announced it on this sports talk radio show. When the hosts asked who in TF is XXXTentacion, Rosenberg responded, "Well, he's no angel," echoing language used in a widely criticized New York Times article on the Mike Brown shooting.
Joe Budden, who happened to be listening to this show on the radio in his car, heard this and was decidedly non-plussed. On an episode of his popular Joe Budden Podcast, or whatever it's called, he explained how it's not customary in the hip-hop community to declare that someone who just died was a worthless piece of shit, but Peter Rosenberg wouldn't know that, because he's not of the culture. It was actually a fairly insightful—and timely!—bit of criticism, and should have resulted in Peter Rosenberg being run out of hip-hop on a rail.
Budden followed this up on the most recent episode of his podcast by reiterating that Rosenberg is not of the culture and also by providing some additional context, including the fact that the hosts of this sports talk radio program are a couple of Trump supporters, that Rosenberg later doubled down on his remarks on Hot 97, and that he pursued back channels in an attempt to sweep this issue under the rug, as he did back when I revealed that he's the scion of the Israel Lobby. Fortunately, Budden had the sense not to fall for that shit. I think he's sober now. Elsewhere on this podcast, he mentions drinking a virgin piña colada on a recent vacation, which, why would you throw money away like that?
