There was a time when Nicki Minaj was the top female rapper in the game, and that time was six years ago. Since then, she was positively destroyed in a battle by Remy Ma, who arguably has a better body, and Cardi B, who doesn't sound in the least bit credible, has become the most successful female rapper of all time, surpassing the likes of Lil Kim and Lauryn Hill.
The last Nicki Minaj album may have been the one with "Anaconda" on it, in 2014, but who knows? Who gives a shit? In the run up to the release of her next album, August 10th, she's reached a new all-time low. The other day on Twitter, she sent angry, profane DMs to some obscure blogger, who merely suggested that Minaj should write about more mature subject matter now that she's getting on in years.
The blogger of course screencapped and posted the DMs, to drive engagement, and because it really is thrilling to have an online interaction with an erstwhile celebrity, a full 12 years after Twitter began. She thus not only ceded the moral high ground but exposed herself to all manner of harassment from Minaj's stan army, known as the Barbz.
Some of the harassment was racist in nature. One CAC, probably a teh ghey guy (I'd be willing to bet everything I own on this), is quoted in an article in Mic calling the blogger an unemployed, dark-skinted guttersnipe bitch. Yikes! And Nicki Minaj apparently cosigns this. Then there's the fact that she's facilitating targeted harassment, which, you'll recall, was the thing that got Milo banned from Twitter. I guess, as long as she doesn't go after DeRay.
