My heart and mind is with the staff of a YouTube office that was shot up yesterday afternoon. At least one person, the perp, is dead, and at least four people were injured.
One of the first real details I heard was that no one was killed other than the perp, which suggested to me that it was a woman. This was confirmed shortly thereafter, though I don't have any other real details, and I have to write these things way in advance, so I could be wrong.
What difference does it make, anyway?
Supposedly, she shot her boyfriend and three other people and then killed herself. If that's true, hopefully it prompts an important conversation about violence against men and violence amongst gainfully employed white people. It might be necessary to increase patrols in the suburbs. CACs are wildin' in 2018.
Before this domestic angle emerged (which could be fake news), I thought it might be someone upset that YouTube cut off their ad revenue for calling the Parkland teens crisis actors, or trying to trick eight-year-olds into eating Tide pods or whatever. This might still lead to a further crackdown on content.
If there's a bright side to this story, it's that at least it happened the day before the 50th anniversary of MLK's assassination. Hopefully people of all races are on their best behavior today.
