I applaud Tamika D. Mallory, whoever that is, for having the courage, and the sense, to refuse to condemn or sever ties with Louis Farrakhan just because he offered some alternative views on whether or not Jewish people are on the up and up, at a recent Nation of Islam event.
Mallory was a cofounder of the Women's March, a/k/a the Million Vagina March, and people who supported the march, who shouldn't be taken seriously for that reason alone, have ordered her to throw Farrakhan under a bus like Obama did Jeremiah Wright or else . . . well, I'm not sure what.
The march already happened over a year ago, so they can't very well go back and cancel it—we don't have the technology yet. And they can't do another one anyway, because what purpose would it serve? The turnout wouldn't be nearly as high, because the only real purpose of the first one was to bitch and moan that Hillary lost, not because she would have been a good president, but because she was a woman, and people have since moved on with their lives. (I understand that there's an especially eventful new season of the Bachelor.)
There's minimal concern that Farrakhan, emboldened by an endorsement from someone from the Women's March, will initiate mass pogroms, because he's never actually done anything to Jewish people other than accuse them of any and all wrongdoing that's ever taken place. He's killed more black people than Jewish people. As it's explained in an article in the Atlantic the other day, he just trolls the Jews to generate interest in his organization, the same way the Anti-Defamation League manages to identify anti-Semitism in a ham sandwich, to solicit for donations.
It might be necessary for Mallory to stage another publicity stunt, in order to secure the kind of covert endorsement deals DeRay has with Doritos, Spotify, Dove soap, McDonald's, Patagonia, so on and so forth ad infinitum, but issuing an apology wouldn't be useful to that end. The people demanding an apology wouldn't want anything to do with her even if she did apologize. They just want to watch her squirm.
