XXL's 10 Freshmen, ranked in order from best to worst
According to Last Week's Poll
In last week's poll, you were given the opportunity to vote for the best artist featured on the cover of this month's issue of XXL. Voting was conducted Canadian-style, where it's not really bacon you can vote for up to three people. So I'm thinking these results should be incredibly accurate, aside from the fact that I have no idea why the percentages add up to over 100.
Major labels might want to use these results to determine who's worthy of stringing along, on the outside chance that they might become the next Fiddy Cent, or Kanye West, as the case may be, and who they shouldn't bother with, since they couldn't even develop much of a following on the Internets. If so, it's be nice if they sent me some sort of consulting fee.
Check the results:

- Blu (33.0%)

- Asher Roth (11.6%)

- B.O.B. (10.6%)
- Kid Cudi (8.6%)
- Curren$y (6.5%)

Wouldn't you know, the two guys who've actually created something worthwhile that wasn't just a freestyle or a web video ran away with this thing. Blu, and Wale tied for number one with 33% of the vote each, about three times as much as the nearest competitor.
You fruits know I enjoy that CRAC Knuckles album Blu put out with Ta'raach earlier this year, and Wale's mixtape 100 Miles and Running, which probably came out a good year ago. Since there's no accounting for taste, I'm sure a lot of people who voted for those two were also into that Blu and Exile album, and that Seinfeld mixtape.
The next four spots on the list, and really the entire rest of the list, is close enough that there isn't much of a point in drawing a distinction between, say, B.O.B's 10.6% showing, and Kid Cudi's 8.6%. Most likely, a significant amount of the people who voted in this poll either never heard any material from these artists, or never heard anything from them that was particularly memorable.
