There's a new, free Michael Moore movie coming out this month
Bonus!
It was announced just now that Michael Moore is gonna be releasing a new film, called Slacker Uprising, for free online, using a model similar to the model Radiohead used to release In Rainbows.
Except that Radiohead album wasn't free per se, in the sense that, if you were white and you had an extra $4 lying around, you could send it to Radiohead via PayPal or whatever. Whereas, from what I could gather, there isn't gonna be any money involved with this Michael Moore movie.
In the AP story I just read re: the release of Slacker Uprising, it said that the film cost about $2 million to make, and that Michael Moore expected to pay about $1 million of that out of his own pocket. I'm not sure where the other $1 million is coming from. Maybe there's an ad for Doritos in it.
Anyhoo, you can sign up via email to receive a copy of Slacker Uprising when it's released, September 23rd, at the Slacker Uprising website.
The film is described as following Michael Moore on a tour he went on in 2004 to rally young people to vote in that year's presidential election. (And we all know how well that turned out.) It sounds like it might be similar to The Big One, a film that followed him on a tour he went on to promote a book he wrote back in the mid '90s.
