Kanye West "Love Lockdown"

Love Lockdown

How in the world Kanye West has actually managed to release "Love Lockdown" as a single is beyond me.

A CD-quality copy of the song he first performed at the VMAs the other day hit the Internets just now, and, holy crap, it's even worse than the live version that's been floating around for the past couple of days.

I don't know if it's because he's distraught over the state of the relationship with his onetime (and future?) fiance, as I speculated in a post at XXL the other day, or what, but Kanye West has somehow managed to sing so poorly that not even autotune can bring his voice back into the realm of musicality.

Who even knew that was possible?

The result is a song so awful I'm wondering if radio stations are even gonna be able to pretend that it's good enough to put into heavy rotation - even though I know it's a policy of theirs to keep high profile garbage from Universal Records in heavy rotation, regardless of how bad it is.

"Love Lockdown" is so bad that even Elliott "Trapped by a Cougar" Wilson almost said that it sucks balls (almost) in the Facebook note he wrote about it. Which is what he does now that he's no longer with XXL, by the way - write notes on Facebook about shit.

There must not be anyone in Kanye's inner circle or in the Def Jam building with both the cojones and the authority to tell Kanye West that there's no way "Love Lockdown" should have been released as a single. Or as anything, for that matter.

Hopefully, his career suffers as a result of this.
