Tha Carter III is just alright

Tha Carter III

According to Last Week's Poll
Lil Wayne's Tha Carter III is destined to go down as an important album, if only for the fact that it's remarkably popular. In its first week of release alone, it sold over a million copies. And albums just aren't selling that well these days.

But is Tha Carter III any good? In the past couple of weeks, I've heard all sorts of opinions about it, ranging from, "It sucks balls," all the way up to people saying it's an instant classic. I figured the best way to find out if there's any consensus at all about the album was to put it to you, the consumer.

Check the results:

Using XXL's rating system, how would you rate Tha Carter III?

  1. L (26.6%)
  2. S (22.9%)
  3. XL (21.5%)
  4. XXL (14.9%)
  5. M (14.2%)

Hmm...

I'm not sure there's a whole lot you can conclude from these results. Which is weird, given how popular this album has become, and how ubiquitous Lil Wayne has been these past couple of weeks. You'd think there'd be more of a consensus at this point.

I kinda figured a lot of people would vote for "S" just out of spite, or maybe because they thought the album was genuinely that gay, and there would also be a lot of people who voted "XXL." Because this is, after all, the Internets.

But that wasn't really the case. The vote actually ended up being pretty split across the range of options, with just plain ol' "L" receiving the most votes of them all.

Which I'm gonna go ahead and take to mean that Tha Carter III is just alright. If it was really that bad, more people would have voted for "S." And obviously it's not an instant classic. It's a Lil Wayne album, fer chrissakes.
