Ray J strikes again?

Someone in my hip-hop advertising group just checked, and it looks like the reason the XXL site has been down all day is because someone forgot to have their domain name renewed. I had something similar happen to me once, but it wasn't because I pay my bills on CP time.

A few years ago, either Ray J or someone from Ray J's camp - probably Ray J himself - came across this post I had written in which I fantasized about killing him. It wasn't actually a death threat or anything. It was just... you know, a fantasy.

But I guess Ray J himself didn't see it that way. So he started firing off emails. I got an email from the company that hosts this site saying that death threats were against their terms of service or whatever. So I was like, "Fine," and just got rid of the post altogether.

I wasn't about to sweat having to find another host for this site (and hence probably new blog software as well) just because of motherfucking Ray J. This was back before he even had any songs they actually play on the radio. There were rumors that he was banging a lot of broads, which was what set me off in the first place, but this was back before he was claiming he's had sex with over 1,100 women.

Then one day, a few weeks later, my site just up and disappeared. My domain name just redirected to some site about registering domain names. I figured something might be wrong with my Internets, but I wasn't having a problem accessing any other sites.

Come to find out, Ray J had sent an email to my domain name registrar talking about how I was threatening to kill him. (When the truth of the matter is that I was just a little bit jealous, and I was lashing out.) They sent me an email saying I needed to take the post down or else, but they sent it to this email address I hadn't used since forever. It was the email address I used when I registered the domain name, a long-ass time ago. I never responded, so they just deleted my shit.

The thing is, I had already deleted the post back when the shit first became an issue. But apparently, they have this process where, not only do you have to delete the shit, but then you have to prove to them that you did. Or else they still just delete your shit.

Fortunately, I was able to send them a link proving to them I was no longer hurting Ray J's feelings, and they put my shit back up. The only thing is, for whatever reason, it takes like a day or something after your domain gets cut back on for your shit to show back up. So even if XXL gets their shit cut back on today, it could be until like tomorrow until the site's back up. I guess we'll see.
