Still not a snitch
Not that I didn't have anything else better to do, but last night I was listening to the popular hip-hop podcast Juan Epstein, hosted by Hot 07 DJs Peter Rosenberg and Cipha Sounds.
They were interviewing Pete Rock, and it sounded like they were about to ask him about the time he got beaten like a rented mule by the YGz at a barbecue thrown by Heavy D, but then they stopped just short.
Peter Rosenberg asked him about his relationship with the YGz, and Pete Rock was like, "Yeah, those dudes were thugs!" But then Rosenberg didn't really press him about having a shoe put on him, though you got the idea that he's aware of the now legendary incident. Why else would he have brought up the YGz?
They got into a bunch of other interesting shit though, like his ongoing, hilarious beef with CL Smooth; anecdotes about the Notorious B.I.G., who was apparently a big-time underground head; and how PR stays getting ripped off for production credit, album royalties and what have you.
At one point, he tries to sound all hardbody, while talking about how he got jerked by this label BBE. He talks about how he had to confront one of the guys from the label, but come to find out Pete Rock just spit on the guy. As he explains, he didn't want to put his shoe on the guy, lest he press charges, but I don't know.
