LT Dinwiddie: "Nullus!"

Speaking of teh homosexuality, here's a Facebook bulletin LT Dinwiddie aka SOHH Gyant sent out this weekend, in response to rumors that he's a DL pillow biter. I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't help but feel bad for the guy when I read the part about how his father called him wanting to know if he's really a fudge. That's gotta be a tough blow to take. Nullus!
Gyant's Response To The Downlow Crusade
by LT Dinwiddie
Last week proved to be one of the most interesting, and entertaining times of my life. Allegations, of homosexual participation, leaking albums, supposed arrest tales; it all proved to be one weird experience. My initial thought was to try and prove to the world that the silly rants of an elder woman were bogus and without merit. I found myself at an emotional cross road because on one hand I wanted to defend my reputation, while also trying to not honor the salaciousness of it all.
Could people really believe some story online and deem it the gospel at the hands of some blogger? Well, clearly yes, they could. At first my cloud of anger wouldn’t allow me to believe the independent thinkers of the world would/could believe such nonsense. But, then a friend cleared my disbelief with a very bold, and obvious statement, which I will only paraphrase. He said to me that people are going to believe the rants of a lonely lesbian, the same way they believe stuff that I write about celebrities. Suddenly I had an epiphany. Could this cosmic retribution for my relentless celebrity attacking? Like the day I accused Slim from 112 of using cocaine, or the time when I put the rumor out there that Playa Circle got robbed? The notion that “karma” was coming back to bite me in the nuts didn’t even occur, but alas, here I am.
Like any good blogger I know that controversy garners attention. So what’s the easiest thing in the world to get everybody talking – Homosexuality. Let’s face it the gay talk is as salacious as you can get if you’re a male, particularly if you’re in hip-hop. In this hyper masculine industry men defend their sexuality like they would their own child..to the death!
So as I started to realize the intent of the “mission” I couldn’t help but nod my head in respect. If this were a chess game this would be a “check mate!” However I believe the plan backfired because my Gyant personality took over radio waves from Atlanta to NYC.
Magazine publications called me asking for an interview. XXL magazine’s Byron Crawford even wrote up a post about it. Hell, even My dad, who knows nothing about the internet even hit me up inquiring about the rumors. It seems that overnight my “celebrity” expanded and people who never heard of me before – for damn sure know me now. And while I can admit that the attention has been interesting. The frenzy around it is quiet disturbing. Are we still so closed minded as a society that one’s sexual orientation deems to be the topic of discussion? Trust me I am no one to talk. I’ve called many a celebrity a homo. But never as a particular stand alone topic. I mean we all call Bow Wow and Omarion gay. But that’s only because of how their pictures constantly reveal the two. But does anyone actually believe them to be? Well hell, I don’t. It’s just a little zinger I like to throw in for dramatic effect.
But for blogs, message boards, and other sites to do posts questioning my down low status, which for me is completely laughable, I remain puzzled. One of the biggest reasons why the hip-hop community, much like the black community continues to remain in such a stale, non-progressive state is because of our archaic belief system that if someone doesn’t fit into the idea of what you think they should fit in then they must be gay. I’ve said this before, and I will say it again; People have made the same accusations about Andre 3000, Diddy, Usher, Bow Wow, Kanye, and Jay-Z so I feel that I’m in good company.
I think that its important for you all to know that “Gyant” is a personality. As a blogger I understand the nature of my industry, and so as I materialize into my character daily to give you all the hotness of Atlanta, the things that I express are extremely exaggerated much like a television personality But my life outside of this blog, for the most part remains private. And I’ve realized that no matter what I say to defend myself against some peoples outlandish remarks people are going to ultimately believe what they want to believe, and so therefore I cant/wont waste my energy on fighting lies. But, for all those who are relentless in your quest to “expose” a brutha. All I ask is that you throw up some facts in your stories. I cant really respect you if everything in ya stories is bullshit.
