KFC has an album out
And wouldn't you know, it features nothing but black people singing about fried chicken.
In fact, that was the whole point of the album. It was created as part of a contest, for Black Music Month, in which KFC encouraged aspiring artists to record a song featuring the word KFC, as well as a few other warm and fuzzy diversity terms such as Pride and Community. Prizes for the winning entry included "a recording opportunity worth $5,000" and an appearance on BET's Rap City.
Voting took place on the KFC website in July and August, and the winner is a guy named D Mawl, with a song called "Sounds Good to Me." If I would have known this was going on, I would have stopped by the KFC website myself and voted. A few times.
From the press release for the contest:
The contest winner isn’t the only one who comes out on top. One lucky online voter will be randomly selected to win 360 $1 KFC gift checks redeemable for 360 KFC Snacker® sandwiches, or other menu items at participating locations.
Does the idea of $1 "gift checks" redeemable for tiny chicken sandwiches (damn near one for each day of the year) strike anyone else as reminiscent of food stamps? I'm just saying.
