OJ Simpson robbing casinos, wtf?!
Woke up this morning at the crack of 10 a.m., turned on the TV and there it was: "OJ Simpson questioned by Las Vegas police as possible suspect in casino burglary."
Huh?
If you notice, OJ Simpson has been in the news a lot lately, what with the release of his book If I Did It, which I believe has since been retitled (by the motherfucking Goldman family) to I Did It, not to mention the fact that the racial dynamic in the '08 presidential election seems to recall the reading of the verdict in his criminal trial about 12 years ago in the minds of many.
It's too bad he can't make any legit money without having to hand it over to the parents of that douche who was banging his wife (which must be a tough blow to take, as a guy). Which brings me to my point.
White people need to stop fucking with OJ.
Now, I have no idea whether or not he's guilty of stealing baseball cards from someone's hotel room, and I'm willing to withold judgment until he can find whoever's today's equivalent of Johnnie Cochran to get this shit over and done with, but even if he did, it's probably because how else is he going to get paid?
I'd be lying if I said I understood all of the legal issues at play here (remember, I was pre-med), but it never sat quite well with me that the Goldman family could take his ass to the cleaners in a civil trial like that. This despite the fact that a jury of his peers had already declared that he wasn't the one who did it.
Obvious issues with this bullshit:
a) Why should a man have to pay some money for some shit he didn't even do? It reminds me of the time I got pulled over on the way to high school and 5-0 tried to bring me in on some tickets on my car before I even owned it.
b) They knew good and well OJ didn't have $30 million. They should've just sued him for whatever was in his savings account and been done with it. But this suing people for every dollar they ever make in life reeks to me of indentured servitude, which I believe was outlawed by the 15th amendment or which ever one it was.
Indeed it's too bad Johnnie Cochran has been dead for a few years now. You get the idea that he could've argued that original $30 million judgment down to 10% in cash, plus a promise that this will never happen again, as if that shit was an overdue cable bill. Then there wouldn't have to have been any casino burglary.
