T.I. - Big Shit Poppin': Track Review

T.I.

Lost in all the hoopla last week re: Don Imus, nappy headed hoes and what have you was the fact that the first single from the new T.I. album hit the Internets late last week. Truth be told, I've grown pretty tired of the guy anyway, but he did have last year's best-selling rap album. It'll be interesting to see if this summer's T.I. vs. T.I.P. can do nearly as well.

Obviously the idea here is to replicate the success of "What You Know," the monster single from King. While Manny Fresh is behind the boards this time rather than DJ Toomp, you'll notice this even kinda sounds like "What You Know." If there's a difference between the two of them, it's that Manny Fresh's beat for "Big Shit Poppin'" is a lot more subdued. In fact, I'm surprised they didn't go with something a bit catchier for the lead single. Maybe this is just the "street single" and they're gonna sample Crystal Waters again for the real single.
