The Real World: Denver - Episode 4: Episode Summary

The Real World

Interesting Facts:

a) The kid Davis, who's going to call Tyrie a dreaded n-word tonight went to a school called Stetson University, which really is named after the motherfucker who invented the Stetson hat.

B) On the Wikipedia page for the school I went to, I'm listed under the notable alumni, along with "a leading American eugenicist in the first half of the 20th century."

Anyhoo, tonight the roomies are headed to a joint called Monarch "to see what's going on there." There also appears to be some sort of arrangement in which they receive free drinks. Davis takes advantage and leaves fairly early on, claiming he was getting too wasted.

He didn't appear that drunk though, and the first thing he did when he got home was pick up the phone and call up his bf to tell him how much he loved him and how much he wanted to swallow his chode. No Weezy F Baby.

Meanwhile, Stephen has some sort of incident with the bartender. It's not made clear what exactly went down, but apparently the bartender calls Stephen a dreaded n-word and tells him to leave the bar.

So Stephen leaves, at which point it occurs to him that Davis already left, which pisses Stephen off. Why? Presumably there was already some tension between the two because Davis is a pole smoker and Stephen is a deeply closeted pole smoker.

And I guess there's a case to be made that if you show up to a club with someone, you let them know when you're planning to take off, lest some shit pop off. This law may not be as prevalent in the teh ghey community, where it's normal to leave the club early.

If you know what I mean. (No Pedro Zamora.)

Not to be excluded from any such foolishness, Tyrie takes it upon himself to confront Davis, who's kicking it in the hot tub with, I think, Brooke and Colie. And really, you get the idea that Tyrie's own anger stems from his sexual frustration in failing to hook up with Brooke.

Add a shiteload of alcohol to the mix and you've obviously got a pretty ridonkulous powder keg. I'm not even sure what exactly it is that sets Tyrie off. But whatever it was, suffice it to say that big, crazy motherfucker went off!

I'm a fast-enough typer, but even I couldn't hope to catch most of his tirade. I know he kept telling Davis he was going to give him a beating, and the more he did it, the crazier Davis seemed to get. Eventually, Davis lays hands on Tyrie, presumably to provoke him to violence.

To Tyrie's credit, he didn't go there. As soon as it looked like the situation might escalate (and of course not any sooner), the show's producers intervened. First Davis says some shit like, "I'm going home because a crazy black guy wants to kill me."

Then, on the phone with his top, he goes, "I'm going home because this nigger's trying to kill me!" One of the girls is nearby and just stands there with her mouth wide open, as if she can't believe what she heard. The producer offers to drive him to a hotel for the evening.

The next day, Tyrie works out some (just in case) and then the roomies have a meeting to decide whether or not Davis is going home. Of course he claims to have some sort of drinking problem, as if it's the alcohol itself that makes him a racist.

Fortunately though, him and Tyrie manage to patch things up. Davis is gonna stay and try not to have as many drunken, racist incedents. Tyrie is going to focus on not giving Davis the worst ass whooping he ever had.

NEXT WEEK: Tyrie finds someone else to beat up.
