Various Artists - Eminem Presents the Re-Up: Album Review

London (London) Bureau Chief Akuma writes:
Eminem Presents: The Re-Up (Shady, 2006)
Eminem's back, new producer, new artists, blah blah, press release reproduction etc..
SHADY NARCOTICS
An intro. There's some gun shots. Does Eminem even claim to own guns? And Alchemist? Probably borrows Prodigy's.
WE'RE BACK
They're back. Except Bobby Creekwater, Ca$his and Stat Quo were never here in the first place were they? Production is typical Eminem.
PISTOL PISTOL (REMIX)
Can Eminem please stop re-releasing the same beat? Like Moment of Clarity just worse. And Obie is no Jigga.
MURDER
This beat is pretty good for Shady. Pretty much standard D12 fare.
EVERYTHING IS SHADY
Damn this is getting boring already.
THE RE-UP
How can people rate Eminem amongst the likes of Biggie and Jigga? He's not bad for a white dude, but that's not saying much now is it? Fiddy murders him on his own shit.
YOU DON'T KNOW
Oh, but I really do.
JIMMY CRACK CORN
Em finally comes correct and the beat is slightly less morose than your average Shady production.
TRAPPED
Interchangeable with all the other tracks so far.
WHATEVER YOU WANT
What do I want? A decent hip-hop LP please. Anybody. Please. No homo.
TALKIN’ ALL THAT
Ca$his has potential to be a mediocre weed carrer one day if he applies himself.
BY MY SIDE
Minor scale pianos + keyboard drums = $$$.
WE RIDE FOR SHADY
One thing you can say about Em is that he’s got a whole bunch of black dudes watching his back. I wish I could get that level of respect. He’s the white-boy hip-hop enthusiast’s wet dream. Nullus.
THERE HE IS
I almost fell off my chair at this point. Who would have expected a decent track to be embedded in and amongst all this crap? I expect Alchemist is responsible for this.
TRYIN’ TO WIN
Another Alchemist banger.
SMACK THAT (REMIX)
Someone should pass a law against Akon.
PUBLIC ENEMY #1
A decent vocal performance from Em rendered mediocre by yet another plodding Shady beat.
GET LOW
Dr Dre provides some serious heat here.
SKI MASK WAY (REMIX)
You couldn’t fuck this track up if you tried. The hungriest rap from The Massacre no doubt.
SHAKE THAT (REMIX)
Virtually a carbon-copy of Without Me beat-wise. You gotta love Nate Dogg though. No Peter Tatchell.
CRY NOW (REMIX)
A monster of a beat elicits above average vocal performances from Eminem’s weed carriers.
NO APOLOGIES
Frankly after listening to this steaming pile of manure I’d expect an apology. I guess a decent track from Em will have to do. After all, it’s more than he’s managed so far.
COMMENTS
Shady fans may well enjoy this. That’s because they’re genetically predisposed to mental retardation and were probably raised in the wild by dogs.
