Fuck a Sklar brother (nullus)

Bol

Bol Hits the Big Time
So last night I came across this blog post about how 200 US bloggers now have entries in Wikipedia. Of course I was curious. You'll recall that people have been attempting to create an entry for yours truly going all the way back to 2004. But then the jealous d-bags who run Wikipedia would just delete it, claiming I wasn't important enough.

Obviously they weren't familiar with my work.

At the expense of sounding a tad vain, I wondered how they had managed to come up with a list of 200 prominent bloggers without including yours truly. So I clicked through to the list to make sure I wasn't on it, which is the kind of shit I find myself doing these days. And lo and behold, there I was.

Peep: Bol @ Wikipedia

What's more, my new Wikipedia entry points to a couple of newpaper articles about myself I hadn't even been aware of. Which seems odd when you think about it: How can newspapers write a story about someone without at least sending an email like, "Yo, I just wrote a story about you?"

Of course I was familiar with the story Ben Westhoff did on me for the Riverfront Times, here in St. Louis, but come to find out I've also been the subject of stories in the Houston Press, about the Bun B incident, and the Philadelphia Weekly, where I'm referred to as "blogging's master craftsman."

Indeed it seems my profile has increased considerably since I got down with Jimmy Iovine and co. at XXL. When I started there earlier this year I figured it was only a matter of time before I was back in Wikipedia, not so much because the work I do for XXL is inherently different, but because Wikipedia is obviously biased against independent media.

As I wrote back in April of this year:

My concern is that now that I'm a for real, according-to-Hoyle journalist, co-signed by the likes of Elliott "Coca-ina" Wilson, both my own personal entry and my inclusion as a member of my high school's notable alumni may be due for some much-needed reconsideration.

As of the time I'm writing this, I've yet to be re-added to my high school's list of notable albumni, along with the likes of Jason and Randy Sklar. I thought about going and fixing this myself, but I figured changing your own information in Wikipedia might be considered bad form.

I did find it interesting though that one of the other names on the list of US bloggers is none other than Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows.

Ladies, if this makes you that much more interested in getting together with me to do the nasty this afternoon, you know what to do. I'll just be here in my room furiously checking my email for the next six hours or so.
