Lloyd Banks - Cake: Track Review

Cake

From the forthcoming Rotten Apple.

Lloyd Banks is the most "lyrical" member of G-Unit in the way that Murphy Lee is the most lyrical member of the St. Lunatics: it might actually be true, but I'm not sure what difference it would make one way or the other. It could be the case that I don't have an ear for this New York mixtape rapper shit, but the dude never really did it for me. No Lance Bass.

That said, every once in a while G-Unit will come up with a song that I like. Last year, maybe their collective peak, there was the Game's "How We Do," Tony Yayo's "So Seductive," and Mobb Deep's "Outta Control," all featuring 50 Cent. "Cake," then, would be Lloyd Banks' requisite single featuring Fiddy.

The beat sounds like it could be by the Alchemist, in a good way, though it could be by any number of no-name G-Unit producers. Banks and Fiddy aren't kicking anything especially different or otherwise improved from their usual BS, but I've certainly heard worse from both of them.

Stream "Cake."

And after the jump is the video.

I swear to god ive heard this beat somewhere else i just cant remember, its drivin me nuts.

Banks is alright but his style seems to copy Faabolous too much

step yo game up bol, this track is quite old

its "keep it thoroug" by prodigy produced by the alchemist, chopped up differently.

Damn it is the same keys as in keep it thoro, good ear!
I like Cake, I fuks with it, but now that u brought up keep it
thoro I feel like Alchemist recycling beats and shit, I'll forgive
him this time around cause it works, and since Mobb n GUnit are
BFF its cool to borrow beats and shit

haahah

I thought you'd love murphy lee. Soon you'll b saying that mark maguire didn't deserve that home run record.

i dont like g-unit but i do like banks this song is tox's better than hands up his new mixtape is pretty damn good i think this album will be good

oh and E do u know banks is gonna have a song dissing fab cuz banks claimed fabo bit his lyrics

is banks rocking a flav clock?

U suck! I heard this months ago.

I think XXL should take PE's advice and not believe the hype. It's an okay song, nothing else, it's pretty same ol same ol in every possible respect. I like the bit when the person sings 'cake' though, I suppose

Didn't Illmind produce this joint? I'm pretty sure it was Illmind and not Alchemist...

Peace.

Mel

If it is Illmind then hit bit alchemist, hard.

Banks is gonna diss Fab should be good they both got nice punchlines. Speaking of diss records will 50 diss Chamillionaire for looking like him before 50 started taking steroids.

Finally someone realizes and acknowledges the fact that Lloyd banks raps the same way as fabolous....i call them the same rapper
