Lloyd Banks - Cake: Track Review

Cake

From the forthcoming Rotten Apple.

Lloyd Banks is the most "lyrical" member of G-Unit in the way that Murphy Lee is the most lyrical member of the St. Lunatics: it might actually be true, but I'm not sure what difference it would make one way or the other. It could be the case that I don't have an ear for this New York mixtape rapper shit, but the dude never really did it for me. No Lance Bass.

That said, every once in a while G-Unit will come up with a song that I like. Last year, maybe their collective peak, there was the Game's "How We Do," Tony Yayo's "So Seductive," and Mobb Deep's "Outta Control," all featuring 50 Cent. "Cake," then, would be Lloyd Banks' requisite single featuring Fiddy.

The beat sounds like it could be by the Alchemist, in a good way, though it could be by any number of no-name G-Unit producers. Banks and Fiddy aren't kicking anything especially different or otherwise improved from their usual BS, but I've certainly heard worse from both of them.

Stream "Cake."

And after the jump is the video.
