Let my paycheck go

A man fighting for his rights

The Fight for a Man's Rights
Should the government be allowed to garnish a man's wages for child support if the man only makes $200 a week?

I'm sure we've all heard the horror stories of guys who finally found a legit 9 to 5, only to find out that after the baby took his cut, all that was left was $.48 a week, or something ridonkulous like that.

[Note: As ridonkulous as it sounds, there have been plenty of cases where men have been left with next to no money at all after wage garnishment for child support.]

Here's the thing: What's a man supposed to do with $.48 a week? Even trying to live on $200 a week is impossible on a long enough timeline. But once you go cutting into that, you've essentially made it so that a man couldn't work a legit 9 to 5 if he wanted to.

Which reeks to me of a set-up. You'd have to do something, lest you starve to death, and anything you could do otherwise would carry the risk of getting locked up. Either way you're fucked.

My position is that there should be a cut-off point for wages below which a man's wages can't be garnished for child support. Anything above that point would obviously be fair game, but a man should at least be able to make a decent living for himself without resorting to drug dealing or whatever.
