Star = First Amendment martyr?

Star

Does firing a guy just for claiming he would pee on another guy's daughter strike anyone else as a bit harsh? I mean, it's not like Star was actually going to show up to DJ Envy's daughter's preschool with a pocket full of candy, sipping a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew.

Here's the thing: I'm not from New York, and I've hardly had a chance to check out the Star and Buc Wild program. That's why I didn't bother to post about this shit yesterday. Furthermore, I didn't even post about the jigs here in the STL that got fired from the radio over some bullshit. The radio sucks anyway.

The impression that I get of New York radio, based on the brief amount of time I've spent there is that they play the same songs over and over. Granted, this is more or less true of radio stations everywhere, but it's doubly true of radio stations in New York. When I was there last summer, all you'd hear - on the hip-hop station, mind you - was "We Belong Together." It was ridiculous.

Anyhoo, as inappropriate as his comments were (peeing on kids is wrong), I don't know that they were so bad that he should've been fired. From what I understand, the main guy behind the firing was the same Asian congressman who was protesting Hot 97 over the Tsunami song. What would this guy care, anyway, about DJ Envy's kid getting peed on?

This sounds to me like a case of a Chinaman with a vendetta just looking for an opportunity to get a black dude fired from his job.

frist!

This shit would stand on satellite radio, but on regular commercial radio it's enough to get you fired. Then again this isn't much worse than those Trojan condom commercials I hear on the radio.

Bol,

Long time no read, but the first paragraph in this story made me fucking laugh. Out loud.

>From what I understand, the main guy behind the firing was the same Asian congressman who was protesting Hot 97 over the Tsunami song. What would this guy care, anyway, about DJ Envy's kid getting peed on?

>This sounds to me like a case of a Chinaman with a vendetta just looking for an opportunity to get a black dude fired from his job.

now hold on. whasnt it dj envy's fault they played the tsunami song?

i was listening when he said it and he'd been digging dirt on DJ BENGEY for some time and thus the disrespect of his baby's mom and his seed. honestly, I saw nothing wrong with it. it was foul, but his show was the best thing on radio or even TV. it really brightened up my morning. now I have nothing to look forward to on the drive to work.

damn, G.

I don't know that working for a public radio station grants you total freedom of speech, First Amendment style. Like, you just know there have to be teachers out there who hate illegal immigrants for ruining their classes but might just get fired for expressing that opinion.

Or, remember this?

I've never heard of this Star guy and the only time I've ever spent in New York definitely didn't involve sitting on my ass listening to lame New York radio.

Nonetheless, I'm actually glad the guy got fired. When you're a DJ in New York, chances are you've got millions of people tuning in to you on a daily basis. And, as they say, retardedness (and in this case, racism as well) is contagious.

>From what I understand, the main guy behind the firing was the same Asian congressman who was protesting Hot 97 over the Tsunami song. What would this guy care, anyway, about DJ Envy's kid getting peed on?

Cuz Envy's wife is half asian.

^Oh, so it's okay to pee on someone's kid, unless they're Asian? Then you gotta get fired from your job.

Star referred to Envy's wife as a gook and called the kid half a lo mein eater. I believe if that didn't happen this wouldn't have become a story and he wouldn't have been fired.

Of course Star uses racial slurs freely for every race but nobody ever minded before....

Star as he uses slurs will sometimes also point out that he is the same guy who at Hot 97 raised the issue of why it was acceptable for J-Lo or Fat Joe to use the n-word on a song. But since people told him to be quiet about that he says he now feels society is going with an anything goes on racial slurs policy and is rolling with that.

Makes sense to me.

Star and Bol seem like kindred spirits to me: sometimes thought-provoking and sometimes incredibly stupid, sometimes both at the same time. Plus both love the white man's rock & roll.

While not great, Star was much better than Hot 97's sucktastic morning show.

Soo... how come no R-Kelly jokes.. what the fuck is up with you i'gnants...

umm..

someone could have at least said:
"insert (nullus) bad r-kelly joke here"

haha this is too easy.. i even rolled out a no homo sight gag..

btw Bol, why isnt (nullus) in wikipedia?

wait, dont answer...

His comments about Aaliyah from a few years ago actually sounded a lot worse than this one to me. Anyway, I think the ignorance on display on Miss Jones' show (his NY competition in the morning) is more deserving of outrage than the DJ Envy comments.

hold up. wasnt dj envy the one dissin asians on that tsunami song?
Plus both love the white man's rock & roll.
Star is actually 1/2 white. That's why most people let him get away with racist comments and views.

"^Oh, so it's okay to pee on someone's kid, unless they're Asian? Then you gotta get fired from your job."

I've generally heard this, although it usually only applies to Asian hookers, and it's only when you pee on them that they call the cops.
I mean, it's not like Star was actually going to show up to DJ Envy's daughter's preschool with a pocket full of candy, sipping a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew.
I guess they took it seriously when he offered $500 to any listener who can tell him the whereabouts of her school.

You're right... ALL radio is basically garbage but NY radio is the worst because the DJs think they're GODLY because they host a radis shows in NY... And every other song is G-Unit affiliated or some other trash..

^Oh, so it's okay to pee on someone's kid, unless they're Asian? Then you gotta get fired from your job.

You nailed it, genuis.

Star did it because Envy was on some ole' "If I see that nigga in the street" shit. So Star said what he said, then told Envy, "I am leaving at 11:30 this morning. I park at such and such a place. Now you gotta come see me..." Basically calling Envy out. Envy responds by having his wife get up on O'Rielly Factor...Envy is a bitch.

fcc guidelines state it's forbidden to talk about "excretory activities" in "terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards."

sad but true, in the eyes of the fcc: janet jackson's tit is equivalent to someone talking about taking a shit.

so the station heads were probably just trying to avoid a $100,000 fine which the fcc's been dishing out with some regularity.

as usual it's about money not morality.

Envy responds by having his wife get up on O'Rielly Factor...Envy is a bitch.
*************************************
Yeah I mean it so manly talking about dude's wife and kid on radio...*rolls eyes.

They needed to fire dude..Hopefully these dickheads will get evicted too and broadcast from a Van in east village.....More signs that hip hop is dead...what happened to just playing the fucking music.

But seriousily, like zero R-Kelly jokes..I thought at least 3 cornballs would say something...

This was a hilarious post.

My guess is he'll get picked up by another station in a smaller market, if not in NYC itself.

FYI, your bitch may be fair game, but kids are civilians.

threat to pee on seed=funny shit.

Threat to seed+bounty on seed sitings/locating, et al=violation.

"No women, no kids." Jean Reno

Nuff said.

"Haters wanna hate, lovers wanna love. I don't even want, none of the above. I wanna piss on you. Piss on you, I piss on you, I pee on you. Yes I do."

-from Dave Chappelle's rendition of "Piss on you"

lol, Happy Nig-licious?

H-i-l-a-r-i-o-u-s!

Bol, u would like Star, you two have a lot in common.

Tough break for Star, just when he rebounded from the Aaliyah thing and takin shit over again, he fucks himself over.

UNLESS, he is smarter than you peasants will ever realize. He signed a 17 mil contract with Clear Channel, and he can capitalize on this incident by signing on to sattelite for possibly an even bigger payday. DAMN GENIUS!

This isn't a First Amendment issue. The First Amendment protects your freedom of speech against prosecution by the government, not firing by your employer.

Update:::

Star was arrested for child harassment and sexual something something....... Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahaahhaahhahaahhah...Thats what his dumb as gets. Did you know this nigga is 42????? To fucking old to be acting so fucking childish....

This sounds to me like a case of a Chinaman with a vendetta just looking for an opportunity to get a black dude fired from his job.Does firing a guy just for claiming he would pee on another guy's daughter strike anyone else as a bit harsh?
