It's the end of the world

Bill O'Reilly

The death of western civilization is an issue that's been unfairly hijacked by white supremacists - the Bill O'Reillys and the Pat Buchanans of the world. The truth of the matter is that if this country goes down the tubes, which it will, we all stand to lose.

If the only issue was that, in 30 or 50 years from now, this country will be a few shades darker than it is now, then obviously this wouldn't be that big of a deal. Anyone claiming it was could easily be branded a bigot, and then we could move on from there.

Of course that's far from being the case. This coming demographic shift will threaten our very way of living, regardless of whether you're white, black, "latin," or whatever.

The Mexicans who are jumping a fence to break into this country may be coming here to work, but they aren't coming here to assimilate like past groups of immigrants. Instead, they're remaking the US in Mexico's image. Given the option, many of them aren't bothering to learn English or receive any kind of formal education.

Hispanics are the least educated group in this country. If the US is supposed to be mostly hispanic by 2050, or whenever, what does that tell you about the US? How are we ever supposed to compete with countries like China and India, where the kids know how to do math? Meanwhile, our kids can't even read the menu at McDonalds.

Illegal immigration and globalization in general is one big race to the bottom. We shouldn't let any questions of race cloud our perception on this issue.
