Do they know it's Halloween?

There's an hilarious article in the New York Times about some "indie" musicians who got together to record a sort of parody version of the classic charity benefit single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" by Band Aid.
You'll recall that the original contained such ridonkulous lines as "Nothing ever grows/ no rain or rivers flow" (Note: not actually true) and "Tonight thank God it's them instead of you" (Isn't that just kind of mean?). So this one sort of makes fun of that.
Then again, the original was inarguably the greatest collection of white singers ever assembled. Bono, Phil Collins, Boy George, George Michael and Paul Young represent a starting five that will never be matched again in history.
From what I could gather, this new one consists of basically a buncha no names, plus Beck and David Cross. The Times story mentioned that the group also includes members of Sonic Youth, the Postal Service and Rilo Kiley, but they didn't bother to say who exactly, which leads me to believe that they were mostly low-level personnel from these bands.
David Cross more or less steals the show in the few parts he has, so if you're a fan of his (and why wouldn't you be?), I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it. You can check it out now at the Vice Records site, but be warned that it'll start playing automatically through some gay sort of Flash apparatus.
